In September 2009 The Kansas City YoYo Club was founded by Blake Freeman , Rick Wyatt and John Little.
The club was founded after Blake had met up with the 2009 "80 Years 1 World" Duncan Tour and discovered that there were a few other yoyoers in Kansas City. Since then, the club has grown faster than anyone expected. Weekly attendance grows at every meet and skill levels keep improving.
The club has played host many special guests including Rick Wyatt, Ben Conde, Takeshi Kamisato, Hank Freeman, Drew Tetz, Jack Ringca and Chris Neff. You never know who is going to stop by!
The club has given birth to The Kansas State YoYo Championship, which was held for the first time on May 7th, 2011 in Bonner Springs KS. Adam Brewster of Des Moines, IA took first in both 1A and Open divisions of the inagural event. There were over 30 contestants and well over 300 in attendance at the contest.
The club meets every Wednesday at Kansas City Young Audiences, 3732 Main Street Kansas City, Missouri. Anyone is welcome and there is no charge to attend. The official website for the club is http://www.kcyoyo.org (currently down).
