The Loop 1080 by YoYoFactory is a yo-yo first released in 2012 as a signature series model of Shu Takada. It was also licensed to Bandai for the Hyper Yo-Yo range in 2013 as the Acelash.

Description[]

The Loop 900 was an innovative looping yo-yo, but it wasn't without flaws; the gap adjustment keyhole system was not directly centered in the yo-yo half, which lead to issues with stability and durability. As a result, YoYoFactory went back to the drawing board with 2012 World 2A Champion Shu Takada, to develop an improved version of the Loop 900, which was also his favorite throw until this point. Working closely together with Takada, YoYoFactory piled improvements and various prototypes until they got it right. This lead up to the end product, the Loop 1080.

The Loop 1080 features a nylon spacer system similar to its predecessor, along with that same tiny 4x8x3mm ball bearing also seen in the Mighty Flea. The internals are improved, however, with the gap adjustment mechanism being centered directly in the body half. Along with that, the gap slightly opens up during play for better control and spin. With all the improvements and many different options for strings and lubricants, there is plenty for the user to experiment with.

In August 2015, YoYoFactory released a light-up version of the Loop 1080, designated the Loop 1080L. It is a collaborative variant between Shu Takada and FUTURE BOYZ, an Avex Artist. The Loop 1080L is a bit larger than the original Loop 1080, due to having the light-up system on one side, and the gap adjustment system on the other, but this also gives it a great sense of balance. When the yo-yo spins, the battery-powered light-up system activates, with its LEDs emitting blue lights. The yo-yo body halves are made in an entirely transparent plastic, so that the LEDs are visible when they light up, no matter what side the user looks at. One of the body halves has a battery cover that can be removed with a Philips head screwdriver, so that the batteries could be replaced without much hassle.

A glow-in-the-dark edition of the Loop 1080L was released in November 2015 as part of the Electric Glow Collection. With a glow-in-the-dark body combined with the LED light-up system, the Electric Glow edition of the Loop 1080L can really brighten things up in the dark or in a nighttime performance.
