The Mighty Flea by YoYoFactory is a very small miniature metal yo-yo with a diameter of only twenty-five millimeters (or one inch), first released in December 2008. It was the smallest production yo-yo in the world, prior to the release of the Sturm Panzer SS-001 Mini Panzer. This special project yo-yo is made out of nickel-plated brass instead of aluminum, so that it could weigh closer to other modern yo-yos of the time of its release. It has a mascot in the form of a muscular, anthropomorphic flea in an old-timey weightlifting ensemble, complete with a barbell.
The Mighty Flea also uses a tiny bearing, axle, and Kimu Pads, as well as a shorter, thinner string sometimes referred to as a "Flea Leash". The miniature Kimu Pads used by the Mighty Flea are known as "Flea Bites", and these are made by cutting inner circles on standard-sized Kimu Pads. The bearing measures 4x8x3mm, smaller than even a Size A bearing, but about as small as the Yomega Raider's bearing. The axle is thin, and prone to bending if one drops his/her yo-yo. This prompted YoYoFactory to sell replacement axles separately, along with the specialized response pads.
Later models of the Mighty Flea from 2010 onwards are manufactured out of stainless steel, as well as being made with a more practical Butterfly shape resembling the 888 series, and featuring special Flea-sized CBC Pads.
Very few yo-yos came close to the Mighty Flea's size, such as the Turning Point Tarasqus, the YoYoJam MiniJam, and the Yoyomonster 3Points, until 2020, when the Sturm Panzer SS-001 Mini Panzer (and the SECRET PROTOTYPE included with some units) came along, and has proven to be even smaller.
Big Deal[]
The Big Deal, released on April 5th, 2010, is a variant of the Mighty Flea featuring hubstacks on its sides, allowing the user to change the plane of axis or even ripcord the yo-yo into a spin without throwing it down. As with the 2010 version of the Mighty Flea, it features special Flea-sized CBC pads, along with that miniature bearing. The Big Deal comes in a special, Gachapon-style capsule packaging with a drawstring bag.
