The Freehand 2 (often abbreviated FH2) by Duncan is a yo-yo first released in 2002 as part of the Hardcore series.
Description[]
After the original Freehand's production mold was damaged beyon repair, this second version of the Freehand was introduced as a substitute. Not everyone bought it at first, as many considered it an inferior replacement, and because of this demand, the Duncan Freehand Zero was eventually developed. The Freehand 2's design appears to be based on that of the DragonFly/ProYo Turbo Bumble Bee GT, although it is wider and uses Friction Sticker response instead of the older Brake Pads. It is a small bearing yo-yo made of plastic, and has pogs made of heavy laminated paper.
The original release of the FH2 came with small rubber o-rings for an adjustable gap (installed behind the bearing spacers) and also large rubber weight rings inside the rims beneath the pogs. Eventually they stopped packaging them with the small o-rings, and included thicker bearing spacers instead, giving the yo-yo a fixed gap.
In 2005, a new mold was created that added slightly more plastic to the center of the yo-yo and more plastic to the rim. With the added rim weight, they stopped including the large rubber weight rings.
In 2010, Duncan updated the FH2 again by recessing the response pad area to allow users to implement flowable silicone response to the yo-yo. This modification, which was first invented by Takeshi Kamisato, was very popular for years prior to being officially introduced into the design.
